Religious Education
When taught effectively, Religious Education (RE) helps to develop fundamental life skills such as understanding, respect and tolerance of all people. Through RE, pupils can learn about different faiths and understand the similarities and differences between them. Pupils will see themselves reflected within the curriculum and will have the opportunity to share this with their peers in discussions and capture this within their written work. Evidence of successful RE should be seen through children’s engagement in discussions, through their understanding of different faiths and in the acceptance and respect they show towards others. It can also be shown through the different experiences and activities shared in RE floor books and the opportunity for trips and visitors to bring their learning to life.
