Specialist Provision
Most children with an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) can be supported in a mainstream school in the borough. However, some children identified with particularly complex special educational needs and disabilities may require specialist provision in a mainstream school or a specialist school.
At Burnt Ash, children who attend the specialist provision maximise their educational potential and integrate into mainstream teaching on a regular basis. The children have their teaching and learning needs met through the support of specialist teachers who identify effective strategies, equipment, programs and interventions to enable them to make progress towards desired learning and development outcomes and support their transition into mainstream settings.
What the Specialist Provision looks like at Burnt Ash:
Two classes, split into KS1 and KS2 (children transition to KS2 when appropriate)
Small classes with a high pupil to staff ratio
Highly differentiated learning
Practical learning experiences
Language is often simplified and supported by the use of symbols or Makaton signs
Attention is given to teaching social, life and self-help skills.
Children receive support from outside agencies and our in-house speech and Language Therapist (SALT)

Key Stage 2 Class 7F
Mr Frankland and the Team would like to welcome you to our class!
In 7F we enjoy find new and exciting ways to learn. We have incorporated the continuous provision learning environment to blend free flow with structured learning and promote our children as independent learners. We use activities that help us use and develop our mathematical knowledge so that the children can begin to apply it in a practical way. In 7F we are constantly using engaging and quality texts and pictures to engage us and help us expand our writing. We ensure that each child's activities are highly individualized so that each child is learning in a way that they can access and that engages them.
